These days, I’d say about 90% of videos I watch on YouTube have some sort of pre-roll or mid-roll ads in them. Of those, about 99% of those are immediate skips when that five-second timer counts down. Those are some pretty tough numbers to beat if you’re an advertiser trying to get my attention.
I don’t know if that’s because I’ve been around marketing and advertising so much that it doesn’t really phase me, or if it’s just so ubiquitous in everything that we see and hear that I almost don’t see it anymore.
But I couldn’t skip this one….
Now I don’t know anything about Cold Case Ice Cream—whether it’s good or not, whether it’s worth the ridiculous prices or not—but I was totally impressed by this recreation of the climactic “what’s in the box?” scene from Seven.
It only took those crucial five seconds to recognize actor Tony Cox and comedian Brad Williams and realize what I was watching as their detectives Mills and Somerset discover John Doe’s final chess move.
As talented as they are, what’s the meaning behind casting these actors? It seems harmless, right?
Everything about this short (oh, I get it now), from the cinematography, the music, even the dialogue, is a loving homage to David Fincher’s 1995 thriller and it’s final showdown but with ice cream! What’s not to love?
